Celebrating International Women’s Day: The Female Leaders Who Inspire Us

S/O/S provides women on-the-go with elevated and accessible wellness essentials and creates a welcoming community around it. Throughout the journey of making this dream a reality, we’ve been honored and humbled to meet, work with and admire barrier-breaking women who have transformed their respective fields.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’re rounding up the inspirational women who have shattered glass ceilings to pave the way for us, and future female leaders to follow. Not to mention, they’ve also armed women with the tools they need to look and feel confident, empowered and the best version of themselves.

Linda Wells

Most widely recognized as the founding Editor-In-Chief of Allure, Linda Wells is a prestigious journalist, brand founder and brand builder. She has built brands from the ground up, has contributed to various mixed media channels and grew Allure’s circulation to over one million. It’s safe to say she’s a force to be reckoned with in the beauty and media space.

“Working alongside and having the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from Linda has been an incredible opportunity for us. We are thrilled to have her as a Senior Advisor, lending her expertise and guidance, and most importantly support as we build S/O/S,” Co-founder Susanna shares.

Alli Webb

The idea of Drybar came naturally for founder Alli Webb, a longtime professional stylist who constantly found herself overpaying for blowouts at traditional salons.

Everyday, Alli and her team strive to provide happiness, confidence and empowerment to people of all hair types. While Drybar started as an idea, it quickly grew to be a nationwide phenomenon. While her goal was to provide 30 blowouts per day upon launch, she garnered a line out the door giving over 80 blowouts on day one.

While there have been many challenges along the way, Alli’s biggest reward is the people she meets — the millions of women they help look and feel confident each week, including us.

"As incredibly busy women in finance and then entrepreneurs, we have leaned on DryBar to help us look and feel our best on-the-go and in the boardroom," shares Susanna.

Jackie Stauffer

Jackie Stauffer founded RECESS, a wellness and lifestyle brand after experiencing what we call an S/O/S moment. As a high school athlete, she felt there was no effective on-the-go wellness and personal care solutions for women to use post-workout. She built the brand from the ground up, to make women’s lives easier by providing them with products they can feel good about.

As a leader, Jackie is incredibly inspirational. In an interview with Thrive Global she says, “You will be amazed at what your team can do when you’re not instructing them, but rather supporting them and giving them a foundation they can lean on and build from.”

From the moment Susanna and Robina met Jackie at a coffee shop in New York City, she has been generous with her time and contacts, connecting S/O/S to brands and female founders. Jackie truly embodies "women supporting women" and reminds us to always do the same.

Sheena Yaitanes

Sheena Yaitanes started Kosas Cosmetics from the comfort of her own kitchen in 2015. She was never able to find a lipstick that felt good, or a foundation that held up through the course of an entire day which led to the discovery of easy, effective and clean beauty products.

Kosas is a pioneer in clean makeup, and has taken the industry (and your social media feeds) by storm. "The Kosas team was an early advocate of SOS and the platform we are building. They quickly came on board as the first cosmetics retail brand partner for the company, and we couldn't be more proud to be working with the brand," says Co-founder Robina Verbeek.
